Zijn denken en ontwerpen hebben m.i. alles te maken met zijn verleden. Vandaag is trouwens de jaarlijkse Nationale Holocaust Herdenking bij het Spiegelmonument 'Nooit Meer Auschwitz'.
- Daniel Libeskind is de vaandeldrager van het deconstructivisme, een verzamelnaam voor een chaotisch ogende architectuur, waarvan de afzonderlijke gebouwdelen een onsamenhangend geheel lijken te vormen. Het achterliggende idee is om de verwarring en onzekerheid in de maatschappij te vertalen naar bouwkunst. (Bron: Archipedia). - Zoals architect Daniel Libeskind eigen is greep hij ook met dit kunstwerk terug op het element van het schijnbare tegenstrijdige. De 22m hoge reclamezuil fungeert als afweermiddel ( schild) en als uithangbord ( wapen). Geïnspireerd op de heraldiek bracht hij als emblemen de logo’s van bedrijven uit Dordt aan op de voorzijde. Op de achterzijde schilderde hij een mysterieus patroon van lijnen dat het midden houdt tussen tekst en tekening, aldus Esther Agricola.
